Elephants are capable of swimming 20 miles.

The hurricanes that effect the Eastern part of the U.S. Originate off the west Coast of Africa. They start off as a thunderstorm & will reach hurricane status in 3 stages: 1. Tropical depression - swirling clouds and rain with wind speeds < 38 mph. 2. Tropical storm - wind speeds of 39 to 73 mph. 3. Hurricane - wind speeds greater than 74 mph.

Hurricanes form when all 3 of the following conditions occur:  Sea temperature higher than 80F.  Atmosphere saturated with moisture.  Convergence of equatorial winds.

As a storm system develops, moisture continues to evaporate from the ocean surface. This moisture condenses as it rises. Soon, clouds and rain become caught up in the circular motion of a storm. As long as the tropical storm remains over the warm water of the open ocean, the hurricane can get stronger and larger.

Hurricanes may reach 60-1,000 miles in diameter and 50,000 ft. high. Around the column (eye wall), the whirling winds can reach 250 mph. In the center of the column, called the Cooled water vapor then condenses and falls as torrential rain. Hurricanes may reach 60-1,000 miles in diameter and 50,000 ft. high. Around the column (eye wall), the whirling winds can reach 250 mph. In the center of the column, called the eye of the hurricane, which is characterized by weak winds and a clear sky. Cooled water vapor then condenses and falls as torrential rain.

The more moisture the stronger the hurricane. Therefore, when a hurricane reaches land it will begin to die down. The size & speed of the hurricane will determine how far the hurricane will reach inland.

WATCH - Storm conditions are possible in your area within the next 36 hours. WARNING - Storm conditions are expected in your area within the next 24 hours.

When the hurricane hits the coastline it causes a storm surge. A storm surge is a dome of water 50 miles wide that sweeps the coastline near the area where the hurricane hits land. The low pressure in the hurricane acts like a plunger, pulling up the water level and unleashing massive waves.

Storm surges are responsible for 90% of all hurricane-related fatalities.

7 is an odd number. How do you make it even?

There is a 2 story building. On the 2 nd floor there is a bulb. You are in the basement. There are 3 switches in the basement. One of them lights the bulb on the 2 nd floor. You have to figure out which one will light the bulb but you can only make one trip up. How will you figure out which one is the right switch?
