4 Hit land in August 1992. It emerged as a tropical wave and when it hit land it had magnified into a category 5 hurricane. It was responsible for 23 deaths in the United States. The vast majority of damage that occurred in Florida was due to hurricane Andrew's high winds. It produced a 17 ft storm serge. It also produced a killer tornado in Louisiana. The National Hurricane center reported its peak gust at 164mhp. The agricultural loss in Florida was $1.04 billion alone.
