8 Rebuttal: the OPPOSING claim
Use one paragraph for your counterclaim. Be sure to respond to the opposing claim (rebuttal).

9 Refute The Counterclaim!
Claim: Schools should continue selling chocolate milk. Counterclaim: Chocolate milk has a lot of added sugar. Refute the Counterclaim: Although chocolate milk has more sugar than plain low-fat milk, students are still getting a serving of Calcium, and Vitamins A and D, which are valuable to their heath.

10 Refute The Counterclaim!
Claim: Physical education should be required by students everyday in school. Counterclaim: Requiring physical education every day will make it more difficult for students to take other elective classes. Refute the counterclaim: Although requiring students to take physical education everyday may not allow students to take all the electives they want, students will be dramatically healthier.

11 Together… Complete the Counterclaim worksheet by writing possible counterclaims for each topic.
