2 General Information Grantee/Convener: Eastern Workforce Region Super-Region: Eastern and Southeast Workforce Regions Implementation Funds Awarded: $223,410 Leveraged Resources: $66,085 governmental match; $48,294 non-governmental match.

3 Projected Outcomes 60 individuals enter training 52 individuals complete training 50 individuals receive industry-recognized credential (CNA, LPN, ADN; CE credits for incumbent workers) 80% enter employment; $12,000 wage gain for incumbent workers

4 ARRA Spending Spent a total of $97,840 on Projects/Deliverables (should have been $133,200) Spending Issues- Late start meant we could not spend out all of ARRA funding Prorated some of the partners- AAA, AHEC, Dr. Nancy McMahon AAA & AHEC will be spent using 2 nd year budget ($4,500 & $7,500)

5 SECTOR Grant Deliverables 4 Multi-Generational Workplace workshops Spanish Interpretation Training Specialized geriatric modules/ add-on classes Scholarships issued for nursing students in need Expand the capacity of community colleges to attract, educate and train students to work in healthcare careers serving seniors Specialized resources for student simulation lab Surveys- worker and clients Legislation and information advisory tools developed for discussion points Site visits, employer engagement, network and knowledge building capacity

7 Colleges Morgan Community College – -Received 4 Geriatric Manikins, Manikin Lift and Supplies -Awarded 3 scholarships in the amount of $2,500 each -Providing conference Space Northeastern Junior College - Received Specialized IV Infusion Therapy learning tools -Created a Specialized geriatric module; hired an instructor -Marketing -Student financial aid Otero Junior College - Will be initiating a specialized geriatric module fall 2011 -Providing conference space

8 The “A” Agencies Area Agency on Aging -Crafting surveys for employees caregivers and for clients -Provided results of Community Assessment of Older Adults (COSA) survey -Serve on leadership team Centennial Area Health Education Center -Proving logistics and staff for four Multi-Generational Workplace Workshops -Serve on leadership team

9 Dr. Nancy McMahon Analyzed and suggested how Community Assessment Survey of Older Adults data can be used for discussion and tracking purposes (from AAA) Research and analysis of current health reform legislation; provided data sources Drafted survey instrument for use as discussion points at employer roundtables and site visits Provided contacts and general knowledge about healthcare in Colorado Served on leadership team

10 Rural Community Resource Center -Provide Logistics and staff for SPRINGS Institute Spanish Interpretation trainings in Yuma and Limon -Offer input and expertise to Project Manager -Serve on leadership team

11 Success Stories/Numbers Update 3 students have completed the NJC specialized geriatric nursing module 20 students anticipated in OJC geriatric nursing course this fall 3 students receiving nursing education from MCC scholarships 22 people attended 1 st Multi-Generational workplace workshop 46 people received certification in Spanish Interpretation, one received certification in Samalian Interpretation training 16 people received Workforce Center Career Ready Certificates 55 people have complete Workforce Center “HC” Coded training

12 Year 2 Deliverables / Strategies Manage remaining deliverables- 3 more Multi-Generation Workplace Workshops Organize and conduct Employer Roundtable discussions, conduct site visits and expand employer network Continue to maintain and expand relations with grant partners Continue to build connections, attend meetings, events, etc. in order to build knowledge capacity and build grant awareness Track results- surveys, training and employment Provide monthly progress reports and quarterly reports Collaborate with Workforce Center Business Services initiatives to further serve employers
