To give primacy to the human & spiritual rather than the material values of life. To encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all human relationships. To promote the adoption & the application of higher social, business, & professional standards. To develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive, & serviceable citizenship. To provide, through Kiwanis Clubs, a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render altruistic service, & to build better communities. To cooperate in creating & maintaining that sound public opinion & high idealism which make possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism, & goodwill. “Serving The Children Of The World”

2 JOKE TELLERS BE READY For a month or so, our Walt Pfeil has been "closing" our meetings with a joke which he gets from a secret source. We want him to continue this as a tradition. In addition, lately one or two of our members have been volunteering to share one of their funny stories early during our meetings. Please keep this up also. So from time to time-perhaps during nearly every meeting, our president/moderator will ask if one or two attendees wants to tell a brief, humorous story. So all of you Bob Hopes come to the meetings prepared to give us all a good laugh. The ground rules are: "keep 'em clean and keep 'em brief”. Bill Montgomery Next Thursday evening May 17, this quarter's Division Council Meeting will be held at the Fernandina Beach Kiwanis Club. This will also count as our May Interclub. Join us for a pleasant drive together to Fernandina Beach--a ride across the Mayport Ferry and up A1A to a great buffet and program with all Division 5 Clubs. Call Bill Montgomery - Ph. 221-5527 for details. One Year Dan Kuchta Walt Pfeil Carol Wallace Bill Montgomery and Dick Brand will be coordinating the functions of (1) "housekeeping ", (2)some member meeting assignments, (3) member attendance records, and (4) attendance continuity. The committee's job is to work with Selva Marina staff and with our own members to assure smooth running club meetings. Also and very importantly, we will encourage more members to attend meetings more regularly-and to enjoy doing it. We have been averaging attendance of fewer than 30 members for a year or longer; and this attendance record should be improved. We need the cooperation of all members on planning enjoyable and fun meetings and in encouraging all members to attend meetings all of the time. Bill Montgomery If you haven’t already done so, this is a reminder to make your hotel reservations for the Kiwanis International Convention before rooms are released and rates go up. You can secure your hotel reservations online anytime at www.the-meeting-connection.com by clicking the Kiwanis Housing Link, or call The Meeting Connection at 1-800-398-2568 between 9:00am – 4:30 p m. EST. www.the-meeting-connection.com See you in San Antonio! LTG Rande LeFerve Heavenly Father: Fill our hearts with gratitude so that we may constantly remember the unremembered. Let us not turn our backs on those who stand in need. Help us to remember the hungry with food, not just prayers. And now bless this food to our use and us to Your service. The group received a charter from the state of Michigan on January 21, 1915, and this is regarded as the birth date of Kiwanis. Kiwanis was defined as “an organization for men” in the constitution and adopted in 1924. In 1987, after several years of debate and growing support, women’s membership received overwhelming approval. KIWANIS SPOT Division Council Meeting INTERCLUB FINAL REMINDER Did you see our club’s article in the April/May issue of the Florida District Kiwanis Magazine? Walt Pfeil “Did anybody get that?”
