3  NO!  Most people define stress as worry, tension and pressure, but all stress isn't bad.  Some stress can be happy, exciting and challenging.  We need stress in our lives without it our lives would be dull!

4  Situations that cause us to feel happy, excited, surprised, etc, can be called GOOD stressors.  Situations that cause us to feel sad, scared, mad, etc, can be called BAD stressors.

5  Stressors- things that cause stress  Stressors:  Going to a new school  Divorce or separation of parents  Winning an award  Taking a test  Death of a relative  School work

6  Too much stress can have a negative affect on one’s body, mind and feelings.  How you handle stress has to deal with your health  When stress lasts to long it can become harmful distress.

7  Physical (Body)  Headaches  Nervousness  Rashes  Fast Heartbeat  Increase Urination  Emotional  Bored  Anger Outbursts  Sad/ Depressed  Scared  Withdrawn  Fighting  Mind  Carelessness  Lack of Concentration  Drop in School performance

8  Be aware of the signs of stress you are facing  Since stress will always be apart of our lives, it is important to know of ways to deal with it  WAYS TO HANDLE TOO MUCH STRESS:  Take deep breathes/deep breathing exercises  Watch your thoughts/ think positive  Find time to relax  Talk to a friend or family  Take some time out of the day to do something you enjoy  Feel proud of your accomplishments  Exercise Daily  Do muscle tension exercises  Forgive yourself and others

9  4 steps to solving a stressful situation.  Brainstorm solution  Think of consequences  Choose a solution  Evaluate your choice
