1 Transportation Program Safety Policy
It is expected that students understand and respect the issue of Health and Safety and conduct themselves in a manner that creates a safe environment for self and others

4 Occupational Health & Safety Act
Additional duties of supervisor (2) Without limiting the duty imposed by subsection (1), a supervisor shall, (a) advise a worker of the existence of any potential or actual danger to the health or safety of the worker of which the supervisor is aware; (b) where so prescribed, provide a worker with written instructions as to the measures and procedures to be taken for protection of the worker; and (c) take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of a worker. R.S.O. 1990, c. O.1, s. 27.

5 Occupational Health & Safety Act
Duties of workers 28.  (1) A worker shall, (a) work in compliance with the provisions of this Act and the regulations; (b) use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that the worker’s employer requires to be used or worn; (c) report to his or her employer or supervisor the absence of or defect in any equipment or protective device of which the worker is aware and which may endanger himself, herself or another worker; and (d) report to his or her employer or supervisor any contravention of this Act or the regulations or the existence of any hazard of which he or she knows.

Entanglement rotating equipment & tools Pinch Points – machinery & material Sharp Objects – tool bits & sharp edges Tripping Hazards – Projects & Material Hoist and Jacks Jack stands Fire – Gasoline, Welding & Chemicals

7 Personal Safety No student will act in a hazardous and or dangerous manner. Use of Safety Glasses is Mandatory. Report all injuries!!!! no matter how minor. Watch for moving vehilcles No Book-bags, or Knapsacks NO open toed shoes in the shop NO CELL PHONES, IPODS, etc

Know the emergency exit procedure B2 EVACUATION REAR DOOR Check Work Area for - Combustibles Ensure exhaust hose on ALL running engines Locate all Fire Extinguishers All Flammable Liquids in Yellow Storage Locker 1st Exit & Meeting Place

15 Safety Procedures Students are NOT ALLOWED to work in the shop UNSUPERVISED OBSERVE LOCKOUT TAGS DO NOT USE equipment until TRAINED! * DO NOT use it! ? = ASK Be aware of people around you at all times.rea Be aware near HOISTS! ALWAYS USE JACK STANDS! Moving vehicles by licenced drivers ONLY!

16 Shop Clean-up Clean-up required after each shop period
RETURN ALL tools and equipment to PROPER LOCATIONS TURN OFF- all equipment and tanks Put away all projects and MATERIALS Floor area must be clean especially NEAR EXITS EVERYONE IS INVOLVED- Be part of the solution!
