Saying I Love You

2 Ask a Partner How do your parents show their love?
How do grandparents show their love? How do couples (your friends) show their love? Is it common to say, “I love you”? Give flowers? Hold hands? Hugs? Others? What would you do?

3 Situation Maria is from Peru, but she lives in Japan with her Japanese husband, Satoru. They have a good relationship except for one thing. Listen to their problems.

4 With a partner, talk about the questions below
What’s their problem? What’s Maria’s point of view? What’s Satoru’s point of view?

Maria wonders if her husband really loves her. Satoru is sure that Maria loves him. Maria and Satoru agree about how to show their love. Maria and Satoru have different ideas about marriage because they are from different countries.

7 Everyday is an adjective meaning "daily."
Everyday can also mean "commonplace" or "ordinary," as in "an everyday event." Every day is a time expression meaning "each day" or "regularly." I go for a jog every day. I’m going for my everyday jog.

8 What do you think? Iris: If Satoru loves his wife, he should
express it openly. Mark: Romance and love are different things. Maria should remember that. Anna: If you truly love someone, words shouldn’t be necessary.

Do you think it is okay to marry someone of a different race? Do you think love is necessary to have a good marriage? If your husband or wife has an affair what would you do? If your parents did not approve of a person you loved and wanted to marry, would that be a difficult situation for you? Why/Why not? Is there a such thing as a perfect relationship for you? If you could go out with anyone, who would it be? What are some qualities that you think are important in a spouse or partner? What characteristics do you look for in a girlfriend or boyfriend? What do you consider cheating in a dating relationship?
