1 SPORTS POLICY AND THE SPORTS ENVIRONMENT

2 SAFE GROUNDS, EQUIPMENT AND FACILITIES Grounds and facilities should be designed and maintained to provide a safe playing environment.

3 SAFE GROUNDS Likely dangers must be covered or removed eg: sprinkler heads and broken glass. Any fixtures need to padded in training and play eg: goal and net posts. Grounds should be well lit with light and positioned a safe area away from fences and spectators.

4 SAFE GROUNDS Courts and fields should be: -Positioned away from roads, rivers, dams, cliffs, treess, fences, walls and buildings. -Designed north to south to prevent vision being impeded by the sun. -Constructed on even ground and not hard rough surfaces. -Positioned far enough away from other games and players to prevent clashes.

5 SAFE GROUNDS When the surface is changed by weather additional dangers must be assessed for the risk of injury.

6 FACILITIES Appropriate facilities need to be provided such as: hygenic change rooms, well stocked first aid room.

7 EQUIPMENT Equipment is necessary to prevent injury Gymnastics, mats to prevent injury from falls. Equipment should be suited to the size and the ability of the player and in sound working order.

8 EQUIPMENT Should be maintained regularly and undergo safety checks. Large equipment should be anchored, stable and well padded. Temporary structures should be properly erected and of sound construction.

9 ACTIVITIES Complete the sheets pg: 36 and 37 Titan HSCPDHPE Book 2.
