7 Italian Partnership Agreement: Priorities Increase energy efficiency in all sectors. ERDF will invest in energy efficiency improvements in public buildings, including social housing, and in enterprises, as well as in high efficiency cogeneration and district heating systems; Support the development of renewable sources. ERDF will support energy production from renewable sources only where linked to energy efficiency measures in buildings and enterprises, and invest in smart distribution grids in both urban and rural areas; Encourage a shift towards low-carbon and sustainable transportation modes and improve public transport services for citizens. ERDF will support key infrastructures, mainly railways and ports, as well as multimodal connectivity. 7
