3 Early School Life - Primary In the UK, children start nursery which is a mini version of school at the age of 3. Then it is a school year called reception at 4 years old. Then you start school at what people say year 1 to year 6. This is from ages 5 until age 11. From nursery to the end of primary school it is 8 years, so there are 8 classes in primary school. In primary school your class is around 30 students and are categorized in your years, for example: year 4.

4 Secondary School In secondary school, there is a large change as there are many classes in a year. For example, in Sir John Cass, there are 7 classes in a single year group. In a year of secondary school there are so many people students than the 30 in primary school, in Sir John Cass there are 210 students in a year (year 7,8,9,10,11). In total it is about 1000 students. At secondary school there are more lessons than at primary and each lesson is taught in more detail. The next stage of education from secondary school is college.
