The Concept The duration of the project is three years The KNOWBRIDGE project deals particularly with two border administrative regions – Košice self-governing region in Slovakia and Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén region in Hungary, although considered in the larger territorial perspective as a part of Eastern Slovakia and North-Eastern Hungary these two regions have very strong economic, social and geographical links 2 Ing. Ladislav Suhányi, Herľany 2008

KNOWLEDGE project specific objectives: to develop Join Action Plan (JEP) to foster cross border cooperation and to increase the overall capacities to maximise the benefits of research infrastructures to improve links and enhance common partnership to promote development of specific goals to exploit synergy and to maximise the potential to enhance trans-national, including cross-border and inter-regional mutual learning to mentor regions to promote reduction of CO2 emissions 7 Ing. Ladislav Suhányi, Herľany 2008

The KNOWBRIDGE project partly builds on the results of previous EC funded NORRIS project. The key document s of the NORRIS project is the “Interregional innovation strategy of Northern Hungary and of the Košice region 2008 -2013” with an aim to increase competitiveness of the both regions and to cross-border regional and economic cohesion. One of the three initiatives (projects) agreed in the interregional innovation strategy is: „Establishing of energetic interregional cluster“ 8 Ing. Ladislav Suhányi, Herľany 2008

The KNOWBRIDGE project is built on 9 Work packages: WP1. Project Management WP2. Methodology WP3. Analysis and Integration of Research Agendas of Cross-Border Cluster WP4. Benchmarking and Good Practices Transfer WP5. Definition of Joint Action Plan WP6. Definition of Business Plans WP7. Mentoring and Mutual Learning WP8. Dissemination and Awareness Raising WP9. Monitoring, Review and Assessment 9 Ing. Ladislav Suhányi, Herľany 2008

WP1 and WP9 are focused on managerial issues and will enable smooth and efficient project activities implementation and high quality deliverables elaboration. WP9 will set up quality procedures, risk analysis and contingency plan. 10 Ing. Ladislav Suhányi, Herľany 2008

WP2 - Methodology is aimed: –to provide overall methodological and reference frameworks and methodological tools; –to define common research framework; –to develop the approach to task solving; –to define and coordinate methodology for benchmarking and cross regional analysis and –to ensure the acceptance of the methodology by all WPs. WP2 creates a foundation for the further development of WPs. 11 Ing. Ladislav Suhányi, Herľany 2008

WP3 and WP4 will prepare analysis and reports for further work within WP5, WP6, WP7 and WP8. The WP3 is aimed to cover all analyses, which will be needed within the project, except economic and financial analyses within WP6 – Business plan. These economic and financial analyses will be chosen after the finalisation of JAP. WP4 will carry out benchmarking and identify the best practices and prepare the SWOT analysis. 12 Ing. Ladislav Suhányi, Herľany 2008

WP5 and WP6 are devoted to JAP and Business Plan for RES cross-border cluster design. WP7 enables mentoring and mutual learning 13 Ing. Ladislav Suhányi, Herľany 2008

WP8 is the Dissemination and Awareness Raising – it is aimed to guarantee full use of dissemination and exploitation opportunities of KNOWBRIDGE project results. 14 Ing. Ladislav Suhányi, Herľany 2008
