Shay’s Rebellion Can you remember what happened?

Good job! Farmers had borrowed a lot of money from the government. A depression occurred and their money wasn’t worth anything. The government threatened to take away their farms. In Massachusetts Shay led a rebellion, along with a 1,000 other farmers and formed at the courthouse steps.

Call to the Convention Do you remember where they met? That’s correct!!! Philadelphia -----Constitutional Hall :P

What happened? They decided not to revise the Articles of Confederation, but to write a new Constitution George Washington was elected as the President to the Constitutional Convention They debated how much power should be given to the federal government and how much should be given to the state government

Anti-Federalist v. Federalist

Other branches of government? What are they? What are their main jobs?

The Anti-federalists don’t want to sign the constitution…why? There was no Bill of Rights? What are the Bill of Rights? Why would they want the Bill of Rights?

The Bill of Rights Based on George Mason’s - Virginia Declaration of Rights As well as Thomas Jefferson’s Virginia Statue for Religious Freedom James Madison, known as writing the Bill of Rights led the fight to include the Bill of Rights in the Constitution Anti-Federalists would only ratify the Constitution if the Bill of Rights were included

The Ratification of the Constitution Nine of the Thirteen states had to ratify the Constitution before it could become law Other compromises: ▫3/5ths compromise : slaves were worth 3/5ths of a person (this fight was between the North and South)
