Look at long-term (3-5 years) and short-term goals (1-2 years) –Examples Long term goals –Promote the culture where science is highly valued as a professional career and perceived as relevant/fun from young age. –Strengthen Korea Govt STEAM leadership across policies, curriculum and impacts on classrooms –Adopt global STEM curriculum such as Inquiry Element and Intel Future Scientist etc with Public-Private- partnership Short term goals –Create the 4 th Intel Affiliated Fair – KOFAC YSC –Continue to host Asia Science Educator Academy and Korea Science Educator Academy –

Please list the results you want to see –Examples Student participation in affiliated increases 30% over a three-year period Volunteers/mentors increases 30% within the next 3 years Systemic curriculum changes underway; 50% teachers trained in STEM curriculum such as Inquiry research, IFS, Project Based Learning etc Expansion of Educator communities across Asia and Korea powered by ASEA & KOSEA – capacity building efforts get cemented and momentum built.

7 Intel ISEF 2012 – Educator Academy 7 Intel ISEF Educator Academy South Korea team’s Reflection. Highlight what your team felt was the key learning from the Educator Academy 1. Importance of well-organizing regional science fairs to build up systematic-national networking. 2. Priceless value of ‘science culture’ which should be awared by all levels of students & teachers. 3. Excitement of science, it can be the same to all students. Which Shop Talks were the most beneficial for your team? 1. SciFest : Establishing and Maintaining a National Network of Science fairs (It showed excellent examples of domestic science fairs.) 2. InGenious : Motivating students for STEM studies (It pointed out how important it is to motivate students before all fair-processes.) 3. Ethical consideration while working with partners – Costa Rica exercise What types of Shop Talks were missing? 1. Some morning sessions, such as Jack Franchetti’s presentation was wonderful even though it wasn’t a shop talk. That kind of talk can be more enhanced next year. 2. Official time to talk with students could be very meaningful.
