6 Intel ISEF Educator Academy Intel ® Education Programs 6 Reflection As a result of your participation in the 2014 Educator Academy, please reflect on your experience Highlight what your team felt was the key learning from the Educator Academy –The availability of online technology to help students share their work without boundaries and its relevance as an assessment tool and how that is applicable to Ireland and our new curriculum model –The network and sharing of best practice was key –Meeting experts in a variety of topic areas is a valuable resource –The concept of integrating research based modules into formal curriculum to improve science attainment was key What impressed you the most? –The investment in educators and the quality of the guest speakers and the program –We liked that there was more time for networking Which Shop Talks were the most beneficial for your team? –Harry Kroto –Larry Shoop –Jeffrey Charbonneau –Daniel Newmyer –Mick Ebeling, although not at the actual Ed Academy, was incredible and inspirational –Student ISEF panel, particularly the girls What would you improve? –A well moderated panel could be a good alternative at times to the shop talk –It would be good to have more of a workshop style to the earlier sessions to allow people to work together inter country, as opposed to just working in our country teams (it would be a good way to inform a country team plan later in the week) –Make sure the plenary keynotes have enough broad relevance for the entire audience –Would be good to provide evaluation of keynote speakers (not just shop talks) What types of Shop Talks were missing? - Perhaps more in terms of practical learnings (for instance, instead of some of the shorter shop talks have a longer workshop on something like robotics, mechanics etc.)
