2. ABC’S of kindergarten Absences- call Mrs. Krumsick 993-3602 993-3688 anytime! Apple ID’s-Parents will need to create an apple Id in order for your child to use an Ipad during the school year. Visit our computer lab TONIGHT to set up an apple Id and password. Technology presentation tonight in library. 7:00-7:15 and 7:30-7:45 Attendance and Arrival-walking to our classroom on their own. Assessments-DIBELS Next 3X per year to assess letter recognition, phonemic awareness and letter sound fluency. DIBELS math test

3. ABC’S of kindergarten Birthdays- Celebrating with a special treat. 19 students in our class. No birthday invitations! Behavior System- Frogs and earning stars, safe seat & safe room Bed Time-Make sure you student follows a schedule at home and gets enough sleep! Conferences-Please sign up for either Oct. 21 st, Oct. 22 nd or 23 rd (Wednesday after school or Thursday or Friday). I will conference with everyone!

4. ABC’S of kindergarten Dress Code- Friday’s are Spirit Days wear red! Tennis shoes are the best for kindergarten! Dismissal- 3:10 by our playground gate. Please notify the office if there are any changes to pick up list. Early Dismissal- 12:30 eat lunch at school. First one Oct. 8 th (Thursday)

5. ABC’S of kindergarten Daily Folder- check everyday & keep papers Fine Motor Skills- Please practice cutting, writing name, coloring! Field Trips- sign up to volunteer for ONE field trip. 6. ABC’S of kindergarten Guided Reading Workshop- small groups with students working at their ability level. Homework- Will come home with each Reading Unit (total of 10) work with your child, one activity a night 10 minutes max. Your child is doing the work. Read together nightly. Independence- walking to our room on their own. Tying shoes, zipping jackets! Cleaning their cubbies, having materials!

7. ABC’S of kindergarten Library- Tuesday (a.m.) & Friday (p.m.) bringing back the book is their responsibility! Sign up in the back of the room if you would like to volunteer in the library. Lunch- 10:55-11:20 menu online $2.55 reduced $0.40, please no outside drinks!

8. ABC’S of kindergarten Math Program- enVision program, many manipulatives, review math sheets at home. Outside- Dress your child appropriately for the weather. PBIS- school wide behavior plan PTA- Please join!

9. ABC’S of kindergarten Parties- 3 parties throughout the year. http://www4.smsd.org/beckydallman/ Please sign for to be a Room Parent in the back of the room. Room Parents are organizing a game/craft and contacting other parents who have signed up to bring supplies and snacks for the party Sign up to bring snacks, drinks, or to help at the parties in the back of the room. Begin at 2:15 in the classroom!

10. ABC’S of kindergarten Report Cards- Available online every 9 weeks on SkyWard, review, and call me with any questions I will post quarter expectations on my web back pack. Reading Program- Wonders (phonemic awareness, vocab. Comprehension etc.) Letter formation!!! Restrooms- Practice snapping pants, and using belts.

11. ABC’S of kindergarten Switch- all 3 kindergarten classes switch in the p.m. For science, social studies & math enrichment. Afternoon Snack- Appreciate if you would send a snack for the whole class (19 kids) for the long afternoons! Cereal, graham crackers, granola bars, fruit snacks etc. NO INDIVIDUAL SNACKS! Unless there is an allergy concern.

13. Miscellaneous Pencil sharpener- NO plastic pencils. Everyone worked hard on the first few day of kindergarten! Remember we are still learning kindergarten expectations! Please send box tops with your child! Treasure Chest-if you have any little toys/trinkets I would love to have them!
