3 3 Traditional Automation Strategies  Traditional automation generally focuses on the differences of a material delivery system and misses the things that are similar. This leads to monolithic automations that are totally self contained and miss the opportunity to take advantages of “best in class” approaches and leads to a lot of creativity that is counter productive.  The results are some parts form a well functioning systems while other parts are less functional, each individual material transfer function is a new custom effort and generally is very different then the previous one. It also leads to a lot maintenance cost and need to replace the automation frequently.

4 4 Traditional Automation Strategies

5 5  Joining the S88 guideline (see www.wbf.com ) for modularity and the Q.i’s best in class functionality the automation is freed to focus on the necessary differences of any given material deliver systems and leaving the overhead of the things that are common to the modular components of the Q.i system with the interaction between components handled by the Q.i with out custom programming.www.wbf.com  All of the necessary functions of a material transfer are handled by the pre-engineered and pre-tested components provided by the Q.i system. This leads to a much simpler overall architecture that is less costly to develop and support and will be viable far longer then traditional approaches. Modular Automation Strategies
