2. I am very excited about getting to know your child this year.
I think of parents

your child be the best that they can be.

3. I have many wonderful learning activities planned.
Instruction will meet the standards set by the State of California.
My goal for reading, writing and math is
for every student to meet or exceed
the state’s standards.

4. Expectations I expect for students to follow all classroom and school
rules at all times.
We follow the district’s adopted programs, “PeaceBuilders” and “Character Counts”to help children understand what
is appropriate behavior.

6. Daily Schedule 7:45-8:00 Opening (Roll & Pledges)

12:05-12:20 PE
12:20-12:30 Read Aloud

7. Homework Students have homework every night. (Monday-Thursday)
Math Worksheet (front/back)
Reading to someone (10-15 minutes) – Fill out Reading Log and ask comprehension questions
Study Spelling words – Test every other Friday.
Basic addition and subtraction flash cards would be helpful for those students who are struggling in math.

8. Reading “Fit” books
Read the first page and decided if it is too easy or too hard.
Pick a book that is interesting.
Do they understand the words?
This is part of a reading program called CAFÉ. (Comprehension, Accuracy, Fluency and Expanding Vocabulary)

9. Classroom Celebrations
Non-edible treats or wellness policy approved treats are allowed on birthdays. Please let me know in advance before you bring it in.
There is an approved Celebration day for each month. The next days are: Oct. 31, Nov. 18, and Dec. 16.

10. Field Trips We are looking into trips that are appropriate to our
2nd grade curriculum.
If you are interested in being a chaperone, please make sure
you have the volunteer
paperwork filled out
ASAP!

11. I am available for conferences in the morning before school
and after school.
Conference Schedule for December is available for you to sign up for a conference time.
