Assessing Reading Rate  Reading rate is only a part of fluency  Other aspects of fluency (intonation, for example) can be assessed using anecdotal records  Slow and labored reading can negatively impact comprehension  See procedures for measuring reading rate Can be done in conjunction with MA Can also be done with silent reading, as long as you time the student’s reading
