1 Setting Up Your Composition Book

2 Composition Book WHY? Keep your work organized Allow you to do your homework more efficiently Assist you in studying and taking exams Important!!!! Keep your composition book up to date daily

3 Directions for Setting Up LABEL the first 20 pages of your composition book starting with Week 1 (Week 2, Week 3…) in the top center of the page above the blue line (front and back). These will be your “table of contents” and you will start a NEW page for every week of the semester. Week 1

4 Directions for Setting Up After the “table of contents” NUMBER the pages starting with “21” on the top outside corner of the pages (front and back.) Number at least the first 30 pages; you will add more page numbers as you need them. 21

5 Directions for Setting Up Vocabulary/Do Now Turn to the LAST page in your composition book. Number backwards 20 pages from the total number of pages your book has, 200 pages: 200-180 240 pages: 240-220 160 pages: 160-140

6 Directions for Setting Up On Weeks 1-20 below the top blue line, copy the following chart. Use a ruler to make the lines look neat. Week 1 DateAssignmentPage

7 Directions for Setting Up PRINT your name and subject on the outside cover. Add your teacher’s name and period as well. First Last CLASS NAME Bento ____ Period

8 Maintaining Your Composition When you come to class EVERY day, take out your composition before doing anything else. Copy the assignments on the (board, projector, overhead) into your assignment log. Then complete your Vocabulary/Do Now Start each NEW assignment at the TOP of a new page in the body of your composition book (after the 1 st 10 pages.)

9 Maintaining Your Composition Write the DATE and TITLE of the assignment at the top of the page. 1 September 6 Syllabus

10 Maintaining Your Composition Worksheets or loose papers get TAPED into your composition book as directed by your teacher. Make sure you can read both sides when you tape your papers.
