2 Food Most diets were based on cornmeal and simple meats like bacon or pork. High in fat and low in nutrients.

3 Dress Simple style, mostly homemade Women wore long dresses and bonnets or caps, while men wore suits with knee breeches, long jackets, round hats and modest cravats.

4 Work Railroads built across the country Farms with livestock Factories after industrial revolution provided a lot of work for people up North.

5 Tools Farmers used new tools like the mechanical reaper to speed up production. New machines in factories industrialized America.
