6 6 April 15-16 NGAC Meeting Draft Agenda Protocol for Public Comments The Committee meeting is open to the public. Members of the public who would like to make comments to the Committee should sign up on the “Comment Sign-Up Sheet” at the registration table. Comments will be taken at the designated time on the agenda. Comments may need to be held to 3-5 minutes, depending on the number of parties who request time to comment. If time does not allow for all comments, then members of the public will be asked to provide their comments in writing. All comments will be made part of the public record and will be electronically distributed to all Committee members.

7 7 NGAC Study Issue Prioritization I. Potential Structural/Foundational Issues: OMB Circular A-16. Provide comments/recommendations on geospatial lifecycle management strategies and revisions to OMB Circular A-16 data themes being developed and coordinated through the Geospatial Line of Business initiative. Investment Strategy. Recommendations on minimizing/removing investment barriers that impede public/private partnerships in advancing the collection, use, and dissemination of geospatial data, products, and technology. National Spatial Data Infrastructure. Recommendations on the future roles and responsibilities of the key players (federal, state/local, private sector, academia, etc.) in developing and sustaining the next generation of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure. Standards/Interoperability. Provide advice/recommendations on more effective use of standards to promote interoperability among public and private sector partners. Other topics or issues you would like to address

8 8 NGAC Study Issue Prioritization II. Potential Programmatic Issues: Imagery for the Nation. Review and provide comments/ recommendations on the IFTN proposal. Also provide comments on the usefulness/applicability of the IFTN model for other data themes. This topic would also include a discussion of NAIP, NDOP, etc. The National Map. Review customer business requirements research results and provide input on the next generation and long-term vision of The National Map. National Land Parcel Data. Provide comments/recommendations based upon the National Academy of Sciences study on parcels, and BLM’s strategy for the National Integrated Land System (NILS). Climate Change. Recommendations on use of geospatial information to address the challenges of climate change. Potential focus areas: 1) More effective use of declassified information. 2) Impacts on coastal areas Revitalizing the U.S. national mapping function. Several issues, including public domain vs. restricted information, and the future role and evolution of the National Applications Office in coordination and declassification of geospatial data and information.
