4 How to Join MERLOT Visit www.merlot.orgwww.merlot.org Click on Become a Member today! Membership is FREE Enter requested information Note: MERLOT does not share your email address with any other entities. Create a username and password Click on Submit

5 How to Create your Member Profile Login with your username and password [Click on Remember Me] Click on Create your Profile Click on Edit Profile Enter & submit your personal information

6 How to Use the Advanced Search Tool Click on Advanced Search just below the Search Materials textbox Enter a desired Subject Category from the dropdown list Use the same drop down list to enter a Sub-Category if desired Enter Material Type, Technical Format, or whichever other criteria are desired Click on Search

8 How to Create a Personal Collection Log in with your username and password Click on Create a Personal Collection under Logged In Enter a title and brief description Enter additional information if desired Click on Submit Browse or search the collection and click on the Title of a desired resource Select the collection in the dropdown list for Add to a Personal Collection and click on Add

9 How to Contribute a Learning Material to MERLOT Locate (or create) a useful Web-based learning resource outside of MERLOT Login to MERLOT with username and password Under Contribute a Material, enter a Title and a URL for the material and click Next Enter the requested information (metadata) as much as possible; use default selections when in doubt Click on Submit

10 How to Contribute an Assignment to MERLOT Create an assignment to attach to a specific MERLOT learning material Locate the pertinent learning material in the collection Click on its Title link Click on Create an Assignment Enter the requested information Click on Submit

11 How to Join the Virtual Speakers Bureau Log in to MERLOT with username and password Click on Join the Virtual Speakers Bureau under Logged In Enter the requested information Click on Save

12 How to Make Use of the Virtual Speakers Bureau Click on Guest Experts under Exploring MERLOT on the MERLOT home page Select a subject category and Browse or Search for guest speakers Select a desired expert Click on Learn more about the Virtual Speakers Bureau for more details on inviting and hosting

14 How to Become an Ad Hoc Reviewer Visit the MERLOT community portal in your discipline Click on the section entitled People Locate the contact information (email address) for the portal editor Contact the editor and inform him/her of your interest in becoming a reviewer Time commitment is flexible

15 How to Participate/Contribute Join MERLOT and create a Member Profile Create Personal Collections Contribute learning materials Contribute assignments Join and/or use the Virtual Speakers Bureau Become an Ad Hoc Reviewer Attend the MERLOT International Conf
