Have students log in for the first time in a school lab setting, with a single classroom at a time (around 30 or fewer). Make sure that teachers/media specialists walking students through the login have practiced using the student login steps. Print a list of student numbers and birthdates. Demonstrate, then walk students through how to change their password using the Change Account Information screen.  Password must be at least 6 characters unless it’s ‘Strong Passwords’, then 8 characters with at least one letter and one number or character  Remind students that it should be something they can remember Have students practice logging in and out of their portal account at least twice.

Portal Account Setup Recommendations: Request they attend an open house in a computer lab setting where you will assist them in activating their portal accounts. Prepare and mail home a letter for portal contacts that provides detailed steps on how to activate their portal account. Stage the rollout (Week 1 last names A-D, Week 2 E-H, etc.)

Users must be informed of password requirements. Standard passwords are 6 characters. If the District is enforcing strong passwords, passwords must have at least 8 characters, with at least one letter and one number or character.

Select the options that will be displayed for parents and students on the Portal for that school. HTML fields are for additional information to be displayed on that screen (such as attendance policy).

Portal Policy & Procedures 1: Data Attendance is available on the Portal the minute the teachers saves it.  Timeframe for attendance (taken within the first 15 minutes of class?)  Post attendance policies regarding excusing and processing times. Grades are available the moment the teacher presses save.  “turn around” time for correcting assignments?  Minimum expectations for updating the Campus gradebook. Reports such as report cards and transcripts may be made available in the Portal.  Which reports should be posted to Portal?  When should report cards be made available on the Portal for a term?  Should paper copies be distributed to all parents, or just those who do not have Portal access?

If so, what verification of identity will be used?  Will Campus Portal accounts be created by district staff? If so, what verification of identity will be used? Census Verification  Is Census data clean and accurate so parents see correct students? User Support  What process will be used if a Portal user forgets their password or disables their account? Who will enable/change passwords? What identification is needed to have this happen?
