How is Touchstone’s love different then what we’ve already seen from the other characters? He is not seeking beauty and wit; he merely wishes to fulfill his physical cravings.

When Touchstone compares a deer’s antlers to the “horns” he expects to wear-One of the most popular jokes in Shakespeare’s time. In Elizabethan England, “horns” were the symbol of a cuckold, a man whose wife was cheating on him. The world “cuckold” is derived from the cuckoo-a bird that lays its eggs in other birds’ nests. According to Elizabethan legend, cuckolds grew horns on their foreheads. What does this say about Touchstone? Touchstone is practical about the future, he resigns to himself to his inevitable fact that this will be his fate if he marries Audrey.

How is Silvius similar to Orlando? How does Phoebe feel about Silvius? Whose side does Rosalind take? What is ironic about Phoebe’s reaction to Rosalind (Ganymede)?

How are Rosalind and Jaques characters different? (classic difference between youth and age) Jaques is cynical of the world whearas Rosalind is a romantic.

What is discovered about the letter Silvius delivers to Ganymede? How does Rosalind respond?

Why have Oliver’s feelings towards Orlando changed? Oliver has been banished by a more powerful tyrant than himself and therefor we can assume Oliver has wandered extensively in the forest, therefor giving him time to contemplate his actions in the past.
