2. Functional Specification Document Re-organizes and restates the applications requirements. Describes exactly how the application will function. What it will look like. What it will do.

3. Three parts of your document: Process Summary Problem Summary Solution Summary

4. Process Summary Describes: The existing business processes that are relevant to the solution being developed. The business process that the new software application will create once it is delivered

5. Problem Summary Provides a brief description of the problems described during the discovery phase that the new solution will address. It describes why the current process is inadequate.

6. Solution Summary Contains a description of the proposed solution and an explanation of how the solution addresses the problem.

7. A Solution Summary may include these items and more: Flowcharts/Web Site Map describing how the application will work. Descriptions of the different calculations that it will perform or of the web pages. Examples of the type of information it will collect and store. Diagrams of what various screens and windows will look like.

8. What do I turn in? Cover Sheet Process Summary – This is before and after! Problem Summary – This is a brief description of the problem. Solution Summary – This may include: –Diagram of your screen –Examples of the type of information –Web Site Map

11. How do I create the diagrams of the various screens? Simple! Draw a box! This will reflect your screen. Draw your page layout! That’s it! Or use the attach sheet on your handout!

12. Correction to Schedule Due to Spring break –  Phase Three will be due April 13 th.  Phase Four will be due April 20 th  Phase Five will be due April 27 th  Phase Six will be due May 4 th  Presentation will be schedule for May 7 th  Remember: Final grade is due for May 15 th.
