What special body parts do they have? How are they similar? How are they different? How do their body parts help them survive in their habitat? Here we have two different species of mammals. One lives on land and the other lives in water… Adaptations worksheet p53-54 Achieve.

Types of Adaptations The katydid is similar to grasshoppers. It eats the leaves and shoots of plants. Birds and carnivorous insects such as praying mantises feed on katydids. A katydid has a number of adaptations that ensure its survival: -Its body is flattened sideways and is leaf green in color. This helps to camouflage it amongst plants. -It also quivers, making it appear like a leaf moving in the wind. -It has keen eyesight and long, strong legs that help it escape quickly when threatened by predators -The katydid lays a very large number of eggs in the soil. For convenience, we can classify adaptations in to three groups – structural, functional and behavioral. Adaptations worksheet p53-54 Achieve.

Types of Adaptations Structural adaptations refer to the shape and size of the organism and how the various parts of its body are put together, for example the katydid’s flattened body, its color, and the shape and size of its legs Adaptations worksheet p53-54 Achieve.

Types of Adaptations Functional adaptations refer to the working of an organism’s body e.g. the katydid’s egg-laying ability and the way it can digest plant leaves and shoots. Adaptations worksheet p53-54 Achieve.

Types of Adaptations Behavioral adaptations are to do with how the organism behaves e.g. the quivering of the katydid mimics the movement of leaves and makes it hard to see in the bushes Changing behaviour worksheet p 12 Achieve.

Name some animals that live in water What sorts of features do these animals have?features For each state whether it is structural, functional or behavioral. How are they different from those that live on land?

Name at least 3 animals that live in Antarctica.animals What sorts of features do these animals have? Name at least 3 animals that live in the desert.animals What sorts of features do these animals have? How are Antarctic animals different from desert animals? How are Antarctic animals and desert animals similar?
