1 Faculty Tutorial

2 Wait listing is the process by which students sign up for a class that is full  Improves Communication ◦ Students will be notified when a seat becomes available on a first-come, first-served basis ◦ Wait listing is now real-time & students can check status through MyMCC  Allows students to better manage their schedule  Elimination of labor intensive, manual entry  Improves staff/student communication  Tracks demand of courses

3 Students who attempt to register for a class that is full may put themselves on a wait list on a first-come, first-served basis.  Notification ◦ When a seat becomes available the student next in line on the wait list will be notified via email. ◦ The email will be sent to the student’s email address.  Time Frame ◦ The student will have 3 days to register themselves into the class. ◦ If no action occurs, the student will be dropped and the next wait listed student will be offered the open seat. ◦ A week before classes start, wait lists will be manually processed by the Registration & Records office.  Hold Status ◦ Registration Holds will prevent the student from adding a wait listed class, even if the student was sent an email.

7  Faculty can view their class wait lists in Banner via MyMCC.  Faculty should not sign students into a class if they have a wait list until the wait list period has ended.  Wait lists are processed manually the week before classes begin and the first week of the term.  Wait listing will help track the demand for certain courses and better manage curriculum offerings.  Automatic Wait listing will provide real-time updates to faculty and students.
