3 Assessment Cohort Matrix

4 12 th Grade is the Cohort Group for Social Studies Cohort is a group of subjects with a common defining characteristic — typically age group

5 Two Part Assessment World Focus U.S. Focus includes world history, global economics, and world geography includes U.S. and Kansas history, civics-government, and U.S. related economics

6 Two parts Each part has 15 indicators @ 2 questions per indicator for a maximum of 30 items per part High school: two untimed sessions, (0ne session for each part) approximately 45 to 60 minute session per part

7 Local Decision History-government OTL is available via KCA in both the fall and spring. Depending on the “cohort sequence” 9 th, 10 th, 11 th, and 12 th graders can be assessed.

8 More on OTL 12 th Grade is the Cohort for Social Studies Even years 11 th Grade is the Cohort for Writing Odd Years Even and odd are counted in the graduation year.

9 Grades 6 and 8 History / government assessments will not be made available for grades 6 and 8 in off years.
