1 The times during the 1967’s 70 cents “ Unfortunately, many Americans live on the outskirts of hope, some because of their poverty and some because of their color, and all too many because of both. Our task is to help replace their despair with unconditional are on poverty in America.”

2  1967 the continued presence of American troops increased further and a total of 475,000 were serving in Vietnam and the peace rallies were multiplying as the number of protesters against the war increased. The Boxer Muhammad Ali was stripped of his boxing world championship for refusing to be inducted into the US Army. In the middle east Israel also went to war with Syria, Egypt and Jordan in the six day war and when it was over Israel controlled and occupied a lot more territory than before the war. Once again in the summer cities throughout America exploded in rioting and looting the worst being in Detroit on July 23rd where 7000 national Guard were bought in to restore law and order on the streets.July 23rd

3  Life was simpler then; there were no computers, cell phones, text messages, etc. They communicated the old fashioned way - by talking on the telephone and in person. School was also simpler; they stuck to the basics, but also had extra curricular activities (Beta Club, Science Club, school football, etc.). And, while there were drugs, they weren't as much of a problem as they are today. For recreation they went to movies, skating rinks, bowling, sports, dancing, music, and reading. They watched television in the evenings together, instead of everyone having their own TV in their bedroom and watching by themselves. And there wasn't as much violence in television, either. There weren't as many working moms, so there were more mothers at home when children got home from school. Takeout dinners were the exception, not the norm, and families ate dinner together.
