1 The Constitution is the document that the United States is governed by. (A list of all the laws)

2 Americans felt they deserved all the rights of Englishmen. The British felt the colonies were created to be used in the way that best suited the king and parliament.

3 Colonies wanted representation in Parliament before being taxed “No taxation without representation.”

4 The American Revolution began in 1775 between 13 colonies and Great Britain.

5 Government “by the people” is called Democracy

6 Declaration of Independence Thomas Jefferson wrote the first draft
