3 Current SOA Challenges Understanding the complex health workflow and business rules environment – Will require close working relationship with provider organization personnel Understanding the benefits derived from true SOA implementations (open interface agreements) Funding a disruptive technology Engage and excite the community to contribute Completing work-segments within 12-18 months in order to keep momentum. 3

8 Assumptions/Risks Keep the project team(s) small (4-6 members) Lower barrier to engage At least one provider organization participate in the project – DoD, VA, NHS, Mayo etc. Funding in the form of grants, in-kind labor etc. be realized within 60 days of project start

9 Next Steps Create Consortium of Partners Develop Project Plan Establish OHT Charter “an EHR Ecosystem” a green solution to the future of EHR 9
