2 What is Presbyterianism?
The term Presbyterian comes from the Greek Word Presbyteros meaning (elder). The Presbyterian Church is a Protestant denomination which was developed from the doctrines of Calvinist Churches of Switzerland and France. Presbyterianism was founded by John Knox in Scotland in 1557. The churches of the Presbyterians are one of the for major group in the protestant reformation. Church Government of Presbyterian is also called a “mixed” a system of elements, because the power is controlled by the larger governing body.

3 The Origin Of Presbyterianism
Theology European Religion Was all falling apart around the 1550. Around that time a French born reformer named John Calvin came and Started a “Counter Reformation,” which led the catholic revival to its destiny. Calvin soon found a protestant church which one day became the first church of Calvinism. Calvin provided his followers with a code called “Calvinists” which united them and made there strength against opposition and persecution incredible. Soon Calvin settled in a city called Geneva, where Calvinism became the official Language. Which will one day lead to the Reformation of Presbyterianism.

Knox in his early 30’s traveled to Geneva. Where we talked about was the religion of Calvinism where John Calvin started his religion, and where we later know that John Knox started Presbyterianism from the teaching of the origin of Calvinism. 4. John Knox Later after going to Geneva Three times to learn about the teaching of Calvin later returned to his home, and soon got married at age 38.

6 Worship The worship of Presbyterian has to do with the fulfilling of the word of God. Calvin’s liturgy formed the basis of reformed worship on the European continent. In the United States Presbyterian worship under the influence of Puritanism, revivalism, and frontier condition. Many churches around 1906 adopted the Presbyterian book of common worship. Which in Scotland liturgy became more common.
