It was sponsored by Beaches Kiwanis Club, with the help of Watson and Osborne Realty and Stewart Title Co. The food was prepared by Fleet Landing. Volunteers from our club, UNF Circle K, Fletcher Key Club, Fletcher Junior Girls, Watson & Osborne Realty and Stewart Title Co., set tables, greeted and seated guests, provided desserts and served dinner for about 90 seniors. Burt Van Wagner hosted; decorations and planning were done by Joan Van Wagner, and the blessing was given by Butch Shadwell. Fun was had by all! Ed Booth, Attorney “Local Aviation” Tuesday, Nov. 13th, the Kiwanis club of St. Augustine was host to the first division council meeting (DCM) and the Florida Governor, Mark Taylor's, visit to our district. We had 7 members represent our club--Bill Montgomery, Erica Godamunne, Doris Barnes, Dick Brand, Neil Powell and new members Alex Himmelberg and Gabriella Donivan. Governor Mark inspired an already enthusiastic crowd to be real leaders in our community. His goals for this year are as follows: 1. Image. He stressed that our club needs to be visible in our local schools. Also he suggested purchasing traditional clothing with a Kiwanis logo, and the wearing of your Kiwanis pin in public. He thought we should save our bright orange apparel for conventions. 2. First Lady, Sharon Taylor, said her project for this year is to increase Kiwanis' participation in Guardian ad Litem. She encouraged us to have a representative as a speaker at our meeting, for us to donate financially (we will donate approximately $1000 via happy bucks & 50/50 drawings this year), and for us to recruit volunteers (this requires about six hours/month). 3. April 5th is to be a state wide service at a youth league ballpark day. We are to find a local park and support them as we see fit. 4. Membership. This is also our club's main focus for the year! He asked all members to recruit their son/daughter/grandchildren, etc. to preserve Kiwanis for future generations and as a means of passing on your legacy. He asked our club to commit to host another membership drive/special guest day and for our division to recruit 100 women members in 100 days. 5. Mark told us that this year's highlighted, statewide interclub will be a cruise launching from Ft. Lauderdale to the Cayman Islands. This trip is purely for fun and will not involve workshop's or anything of that sort. 6. This year NE Florida is blessed to have the opportunity to host the state convention in Jacksonville. If we would like this to continue in the future, it is imperative for our club and our district to have a fantastic showing. REPORT FROM PRES. NEIL POWELL UNF CIRCLE K ACTIVITIES Pres.
