2 Headlines from 16-19 Programs of Study and RPA Programme of Studies 16-19 No significant changes for schools or college following established level 3 programmes. Greater focus on English and Maths and high quality work experience Raising Participation Age Learners will be legally bound to continue in education and training to the age of 17 from 2013 and 18 by 2015 New OfSTED framework Learning outcomes focus on personal, social and employability skills, achievement of learning and career aims

4 RPA (Part –Time Study)and Volunteering Volunteering for 20 hours or more per week for up to 8 weeks in a row will be counted alongside 280glh It will only be learning attached to accredited outcomes which counts towards total RPA for part time study of 280 glh ASDAN Community Volunteering Qualifications can accommodate both volunteering and accredited outcomes counting towards 280 glh

5 ASDAN Community Volunteering Qualifications Level 1 to 3 Award and Certificate size -Award 8 credits (1 credit approximately 10 glh) -Certificate 13 credits UCAS Points at Level 3 -Award 30 -Certificate 50 Smaller 2 credit qualification at entry 3 and levels 1 and 2

6 CVQ Mandatory Units - Understanding what volunteering is about (Level 1 and 2 ONE credit, Level 3 THREE credits) -Carrying out own volunteering role (Level 1 and 2 ONE credit, Level 3 TWO credits)

7 Assessment and Support Recording documents at all levels Portfolio external assessment National Workshops and INSET available Support meetings ORB (online resource bank)

8 3. Plan, Do and Review Sheets These sheets help the learner to formalise the Plan, Do and Review process and to develop Wider Key Skills when they carry out their chosen challenges. 4. Summary of Achievement An opportunity to highlight achievement and describe the skills used in completing the Volunteering Short Course. 5. Personal Statement An means of encouraging the learner to reflect on what they were good at and what they need to improve. 6. Record of progress An important page that records the challenges completed and the credits gained. Short Courses – how they are structured

10 Verification To be successful at verification, all the following must be present: 1.The correct number of Credits gained from the challenges 2.A Portfolio of Evidence 3.The correct number of PDR s: 3 sets for a 60-hour 6 credit award 3 sets for a 50-hour 5 credit award 2 sets for a 40-hour 4 credit award 2 sets for a 30-hour 3 credit award 1 set for a 20-hour 2 credit award 1 set for a 10-hour 1 credit award 4. A Summary of Achievement 5. A Personal Statement 6. A Record of Progress

11 Certification All certificates are issued by ASDAN Central Office After verification, send names to ASDAN using the online Certificate Request Form Contact ASDAN if postal registration required
