2. Risk Assessment The general duties of employers to their employees in section 2 of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 imply the need for risk assessment. 3. Are there any obstructions to the safe movement and evacuation? There are several factors that need to be taken into consideration, these are; How many people will need to be evacuated? How many fire exits are available for evacuation? Is the fire equipment adequate and regularly inspected? Are there sufficient numbers of Fire Wardens available for the safe evacuation of the building? Risk Factors

5. Fire Equipment Replace faulty fire equipment. Hire a fire inspection Company to undertake a survey of the premises. They will: Advise what type of equipment is required. Provide annual inspections.

Fire Procedures 3.Allocate reference numbers on internal exit doors and external fire doors. e.g. E1/E2 for internal and F1/F2 for external fire exits Fire Evacuation Plan 1.Colour code the fire exit routes 2.Allocate reference numbers so that employees can see exactly where they are on the evacuation plan 4. Prepare and issue the Fire Evacuation Procedure explaining what to do in the event of a fire and where to assemble on evacuation.

8. Fire Procedures Carry out regular fire alarm tests. Carry out bi-annual fire drills to test the evacuation procedure Ensure that there are enough Fire Wardens to man each Fire Exit door to ensure no-one returns to the building in case of fire. Actions

9. Finalising the details Brief the Management Team of the fire procedures, who in turn will cascade the information to their teams. Invite the Fire Officer responsible for your area to the site to advocate your plan. Review and amend as necessary
