Unlike your grandparents who often had the same job their entire lives, it is expected that you will have 12-14 different jobs by the time you turn 38 years old. So what can you do to make sure you are “hire-able” throughout your life?

5 To get hired, Millennials need to… Act like the older generations as much as possible! (what generation is your BOSS?) Staying longer with one job (2+ yrs) is better than a having a little experience in lots of different jobs Loyalty Determination Humility Need to show self-motivation Do you work hard for yourself or because other people are telling you to? No excuses!

6 The Do’s and Don'ts of Job Searching for Millennials Don’t:  …use a “spicy” or humorous e-mail address for your job search  …have racy or illegal material on your Tumbler, Twitter or Facebook page  …have Mom or Dad or other family members call for you when you’re job searching – do it yourself  …take your friends with you to your interview (if someone is giving you a ride, ask them to wait in the car)  …use texting language when corresponding with potential employers or your supervisor

7 The Do’s and Don'ts of Job Searching for Millennials Do:  …have SEVERAL people proof read your resume, cover letter, etc before sending it to a potential employer  …present yourself professionally in any communication (cell phone message, etc.)  …remember to turn your cell phone off before going into an interview  …assume that every time you interact with a potential employer, you’re making an impression  …use the most professional and academic language possible – i.e. POWER WORDS
