5 There are 6 parts to the average shoe The INSOLE is the bottom of the shoe on the inside. This part of the shoe is meant for comfort and absorbing the sweat of the feet with the latex like material placed on the bottom. Most of the time this can be replaced. The OUTSOLE is the is the bottom of the shoe and is usually made from rubber to protect the shoe and feet from the weather (rain/snow) or rocks (sharp objects) The MIDSOLE is the layer between the outer and inner sole and is mostly there for shock absorption in running and track shoes. This is normally under the bottom of the shoe near the heal where the most pressure is applied. The HEEL is the part of the shoe that supports the heel and mostly made with the same material as the sole of the shoe (rubber). The SOLE is the bottom of the shoe (rubber)

6 The earliest shoe was in 8000 to 9000 BCE and it was the sandal The first shoe was called “keds” These shoes were used for playing sports and were very light weight 100 years ago Reebok was the first shoe specified for running only Used a light gel to comfort and absorb the shock 5900 years ago was the first shoe Lyman Reed Blake was an American inventor who invented a sewing machine for sewing the soles of shoes
