6. Ted decides that he has to help this poor family, so he brings supplies like bread, and canned food…

8. Clues The name Alexa is printed on the bottom of Aprils shoes. Tire tracks are outside the old barn. A pencil from the sheriffs office is in the grass next to the tire tracks. After April’s family disappears, he(Ted) finds food that is still on the counter, and when he comes back the next day, the food is gone.

At the start of the story, April’s mom, Alexa, tells Ted that the reason that her family is staying in the old barn is that they were on there way to their relatives house after their dad died in a war. Their car broke down, and they were stuck in Plattsford, Nebraska. At the end of the book, the family continued their journey.
