5 After War of 1812, Boston and N.Y. moved children into juvenile detention centers. The new Prison Reform was made by Louis Dwight. Boston Prison Discipline Society

6 Impacts Dorthea Dix campaigned for mentally ill patients. “ The insane were confined in this Commonwealth in cages, closets, cellars, stalls, pens beaten with rods, lased into obedience.” Helped establish five hospitals in America Went to Europe and pleaded for human rights to the Pope and Queen Victoria. In 1841 was the beginning of Eastern Lunatic Asylum and this was the most publicly supported psychiatric hospital.
