6 Recognising the problem. –Signed the Nottingham Declaration which commits us to act on climate change –Chose, along with our partners, the National Indicator on adapting to climate change –Climate Change identified in our plans, policies and strategies as a key issue for the borough

7 Council Actions –Carbon Management Programme aims to reduce our own emissions by 15% by 2011. –Reducing energy use across the estate –Staff Travel Plan is a mobility management scheme aimed at reducing car travel –The IT review will reduce the amount of equipment that uses energy –Carbon Reduction Commitment

8 Working with others. –Local Development Framework has Climate Change as a key component –Examining the borough’s future energy needs –Promoting sustainable travel options –Workplace and school travel plans –Waste recycling collections and promotion –Eco-schools programme –Transition Town initiative
