2 Spain parliamentary monarchy King Juan Carlos(Figure Head) life President(Prime Minister like quality) Mariano Rajoy Four year terms Must be born in Spain and served at least 12 years in Parliament. United States President Barack Obama Elected 2 four year terms. Must be born in the U.S and served at least 35 years old and have served at least 14 years in the government.

3 Spain 3 branches Exuctive: Lead government body led by the President Assisted by the cabinet apointed by the king. The president is the majority leader appointed by the people. Judicial: Supreme court with its leaders appointed by the king. Legislative: Bi cameral party Congress of deputies and the senate. Elected by the people, but led by the king. United States 3 Branches Exuctive: Most prominent branch led by the president. Main job is to govern U.S and keep laws. Judicial: Law making branch that controls the court/law system in the U.S. Headed by the judges on the supreme court. Legislative: Made up of the house of representatives and the senate, together they make up congress and deal with the affairs of the country.

4 Spain Free to practice religion, but almost the entire country practices the catholic faith. Have newspapers and press(reporters.. Ect.) Freedom of speech is somewhat tricky because their government regulates what it in newspapers so it is hard to have your own opinion be heard. U.S Freedom of speech Freedom of religion Right to bear arms

5 Spain Many party system Amaiur- peaceful party that regulates Spain’s independence. Belive spain should be peaceful and independent. Basque nationalist party- party that regulates the Basque region of Spain. Deals with the basque region of spain, and invovels the world of art. Canarian coalition- maintains and regulates the canary island region of Spain. Deals directly with the canary islands. Spanish social working party- the party that deals directly with the working class citizens. There are many more, but these are the most prominent. U.S 2 party system Democratic and republican. Democratic the working mans party, their symbol is a donkey. Republican the established more conservative party. Their symbol is an elephant.

6 Spain Monarchy is heriditary. The majority leader/president is elected by the king and national assembly. (like parliament) When they are elected they stay in power untill the partys switch and the presidents party is no longer the majority. This usually happens every 4 to 5 years. U.S Elected by the people every 4 years, based on both a popular vote and a vote from the electoral college. Voting age is 18 Voting is based on a primary vote.

7 Taxes…..ect Spain Has an income tax, based on a standard rate. Taxes on most food that is grown in spain. Taxes on foreign bought goods. Taxes to own land, taxes to own a ranch/ livestock. Military Spending: Estimated 20million a year. Eduication spending: No set amount 15% of government money goes towards eduication. Health care spending: Spends an estimated 1300000 dollars a week to main its health care system. Rounds off to 34 million dollars a year. U.S Has an annual income tax. Based on income. There is a 6% tax on most things that are bought. Land tax, property tax, school taxes…..ect

9 Relations with the us first established relations in 1783 and have remained friendly with spain and today are closely associated because of our uniqueness of deep investments in Europe and they are having problems with the middle east because they are a large supplier of iil to spain.
