6. It’s not just WHAT we say … … it’s HOW we say it. It’s the same with writing – The way a writer presents his or her ideas can affect his or her message. When we are aware of tone and purpose we can more accurately make inferences (educated guesses) about meaning. This helps with reading comprehension.
