3 1.0 Background and Justification This paper highlights the overall ideas and implementation procedures for the project work designed to promote Decent Work and effective Collective Bargaining. Association of Maybank Executives (AME), an affiliate of MTUC, is the union representing Maybank officers employed in all the states of Peninsular Malaysia. The union has a collective agreement with the Bank and negotiate for a new Collective Bargaining in every 3 years. However, the negotiation is solely negotiated by one person on behalf of the union due to the new entrance of the executive council members who are still lacking knowledge in the collective bargaining. 4 1.0 Background and Justification Workers in the company comprise of permanent staff but more contract and part-time staff are employed, outsourced company staff handling non core banking jobs such as IT Services, Administration Departments, Courier Services, printing and sending statements and reminder. This is affecting the agenda of Decent Work. Thus, this training shall ensure that there are enough trained and skilful Trade union Leaders exists in AME who can effectively negotiate in collective bargaining and for the betterment of workers interest and to give priority and protect Decent Work agenda. The Bank is hostile with the Union by introducing irrational policies and procedures without even consulting or discussing with the Union.
