1 Year 6 Autumn Term 1 English Group discussion based around texts read. Deliver presentation on WWII to classmates. Develop fluency, accuracy and understanding when reading a range of texts. Develop knowledge of the features of autobiographies, biographies, informational texts and diaries. – use a word processor to produce a document Write in response to a range of stimuli. Develop use of a range of punctuation and presentation techniques. PSHE SEAL— New Beginnings ICT – Working with Prezi Store and retrieve documents efficiently in and from their Year 6 file. Make careful choices about the information they gather from the internet. Consider suitability, reliability and the intended audience. Use cameras and iPad to capture performance images during Literacy, Welsh, P.E. and Music sessions. Art & DT Observe and experience the artwork of Henry Moore. Develop knowledge of the properties of materials and processes. Work in an ‘Art Room’ environment with local artist, Tony Godfrey. Science Search for relevant information about forces, utilising reference books and the internet. – organize, refine, share, exchange and present a variety of information and media for a specific purpose and intended audience e.g. independent learning Investigate the science behind how everyday things work. Understand how sounds are produced and travel through the air. Find out how humans affect their local environment. Geography Identify the geographical spread of WWII using globes, atlases and maps. Calculate distances using scale. Orienteering. History Study ways in which WWII has been represented and interpreted. – organize a prepared database by sorting on a particular field and view the sorted database and check the validity of the data Ask and answer relevant questions about WWII, like how the conflict began. Identify significant people and events of WWII. Timeline WWII. Investigate what life on the Home Front was like during WWII. PE Gymnastics - Develop balance, stillness, jumping, rotation and travel in choreographed routines. – capture video images to tell a short story Games – Improve the efficiency of sending and receiving skills in competitive situations. Swimming – Develop water confidence, skills for water safety and ability to stay in the water for sustained periods. Music Investigate the importance of music during WWII. – import music sound and audio clips that reflect the story Develop knowledge of musical elements. Welsh Language Develop relationships in conversations with peers, developing familiarity with language patterns based around personal information. Speak and listen in small groups, asking questions and offering comments in response to peers. Develop positive reading habits, reading welsh fiction and non-fiction each week. Write a letter to a pen pal telling them about yourself. – plan create and develop with a sense of purpose – word processing RE Hinduism – Gods, Symbolism and Worship.
