3 Numeracy  Practical and written maths  Key objectives  Rounding numbers less than 1000 to the nearest 10 and 100; recognise simple fractions and equal fractions; carry out column addition and subtraction; know the 2, 3, 4, 5, and 10 time multiplication tables and derive division fact; find remainders after division; choose and use the appropriate number operations to solve problems.  Mental maths – use known number facts to add ot subtract mentally)

4 Literacy / Creative Curriculum Literacy / Creative Curriculum  Choose topics that will develop Literacy skills, through learning History, Geography and Science.  Autumn Term: The Egyptians  Spring Term: The Tudors  Summer Term: The Rainforest

5 The Egyptians  Write stories from other cultures  News reports and explanation texts  Written version of the story  Geography and DT (map work, rivers, agriculture, 3-d sculpture)  Science – forces and friction linked to building of pyramids

7 Literacy Through these topics, we study:  Instructions  Explanations  Non-chronological reports  Fiction writing

8 Reading  Guided Reading  Independent reading  Books home – 1 per week, return Friday for changing  Read anything!  Books, comics, newspapers, on-line books etc
