2. Next Year’s Schedule Requirements  There will be 7 classes each day  All 8 th Graders are required to take:  4 Core Classes  3 Electives (including Athletics or Kickstart)

3. Electives  You MUST number electives in order of preference: 1 st through 5 th  Elective course availability subject to budget and course interest  Students will be assigned to an intervention class in lieu of an elective based on previous years’ academic performance or STAAR results (including Math, Reading and Science)

4. Electives Signatures & Applications  If one or more of the electives you request require signatures, you will not be enrolled without the proper signature: –Advanced Theater – Mrs. Layman D-101 (application required) –AP Spanish for Native Speakers- Mrs. Tansil (placement test) –Art II - Ms. Amparan –Athletics – One of the coaches –AVID – Coach McCollister B-107 (application required) –Band – Mr. Lucio or Ms. Pinner-Band Hall –Broadcast and Web design – Ms Nennig B-103 (application) –Journalism/Yearbook – Mrs. Layman D-101 (application req.) –Office/Library Aide –Front Office (application required)  If an elective requires an application, you must turn it in by the deadline to be enrolled in the class.  You will be allowed to get signatures on your choice sheet before school from February 17 – February 24th.

5. High School Credit Classes  If you are enrolling in a high school credit class you must get the parent permission form signed and returned with your choice sheet. You will not be allowed in the class without parent signature.  Health/Speech  Spanish I  Web Design  Algebra

6. Pre-AP Math  Algebra I: If you wish to enroll in Algebra I and were not enrolled in Pre-AP Math previously, you MUST take a Comprehensive Math Exam and score a 80% or above. ( Please let Math teacher know) Students enrolled in Algebra 1 will take the Algebra 1 midterm and end of course exam.

7. Returning Choice Sheets RRRReturn complete and signed choice sheets to your Math teacher by: FEBRUARY 24th, 2015 IIIIf Choice Sheets are not returned by the due date, courses will be selected for you by school staff. NO EXCEPTIONS!
