A malicious statement or report The story about Jessica Simpson’s dad confessing to being gay was slanderous, as there was no truth to the article. The writer had a vendetta against Simpson.

5 Philosophy – noun – system of principles or beliefs He wrote countless letters about his philosophy, observations of people and places.

6 Covert – adj. - secret The Navy Seals were on a covert mission to find Osama Bin Laden.

7 Legacies- noun – money, property, or position left in a will to someone I was surprised to find that my uncle left me some unexpected legacies after he died.

8 Cynic – adj. - A person who believes all people are motivated by selfishness My cynical aunt said “I believe that everyone thinks it is okay to take candy from a baby.”

9 Alliance – noun – A formal pact of union or confederation between nations in a common cause. A union, relationship, or connection by kinship, marriage, or common interest. In order to win $1,000,000 on the television show “Survivor,” one must build a trusted alliance.

10 Apparition –noun – A ghostly figure; specter. 2. A sudden or unusual flight. 3. The act of appearing; appearance. I thought I saw an apparition in the shadows of the old Victorian house.

11 Covetous –adj. – Excessively and culpably desirous of the possessions of another. Greedy. When Sean, the bachelor, gave Tiera the first rose, the women that didn’t get one felt covetous.
