Ongoing collaborative project with PGI Effect of Diabetic and Osteogenesis Imperfecta on the Structural and Mechanical Properties of Bone Dr Sanjay Bhadada Department of Endocrinology, PGI Chandigarh. Dr Nirmal Raj, Department of Orthopedics, PGI Chandigarh Dr. Navin Kumar, School of Mechanical, Materials and Energy Engineering, IIT Ropar ISBMR, 2013 Hysitron TI950 Nano Indenter Nano Indentation on Femur bone Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) and Diabetes Mellitus (DM) are characterized by skeletal deformities and brittle bones. The purpose of this study is to determine the mechanical properties of the soft and hard tissue with and without OI and DM.

Ongoing collaborative project with PGI Closed Looped Drug delivery system Syringe pumps to deliver the controlled anesthesia, analgesic, muscles relaxer and blood pressure control drugs. Data acquisition system and connectors Input parameters systems Prof. G. D. Puri and Dr. Preeti Mathew, Department of Anesthesia And Intensive Care, PGIMER, Chandigarh Dr. Navin Kumar, School of Materials, Mechanical and Energy Engineering, IIT Ropar, Punjab Close loop drug delivery system in PGI Chandigarh A closed loop anaesthesia delivery system is under development at PGI in collaboration with IIT Ropar. The uniqueness of using simple syringe pumps to control the intravenous anaesthetic drug delivery and for the first time using closed loop administration of anaesthetics both for induction as well as maintenance of anaesthesia. IIT Ropar is developing a robust control system for feed back control system

To design closed loop automated blood pressure control system Prof. G. D. Puri and Dr. Preeti Mathew Department of Anesthesia And Intensive Care Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh Dr. Navin Kumar School of Materials, Mechanical and Energy Engineering Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (IIT Ropar), Punjab Closed loop blood pressure control system will be designed. Syringe pumps and vital sign monitor as well as cardiac output monitor will be interfaced to a laptop and the algorithm will be prepared to control the infusion of syringe pumps based on the feedback from the input parameters. Funding agency: DST India External Funded collaborative project between IIT Ropar and PGI Chandigarh

Dr. J S Sahambi IIT Ropar and Dr. Rohit Manoj Kumar, Cardiology, PGI We propose to develop a system that will deliver critical patient information including “real time” waveform display (ECG, BP, Respiration, Temp, SaO2 etc.) directly from the patient’s bedside multi-parameter monitor to the doctor’s mobile phone for review and necessary action. There will be is a server based application which will receive real-time data from multiple bedside monitors and then store them in a secure database on a central server connected to Internet. Another application software will be built which will be installed in the doctor’s mobile phone. With this application the doctor will be able to connect (via Internet/GPRS/3G) to the hospital’s central server and then access the real-time data (ECG, BP, etc) for a specific patient. 19 Energy Harvest Intermediate Pyrolysis of Agri- Residues for off grid electricity generation in India IIT Ropar

 For every 1 ton of rice or wheat grain, about 1.5 tons of straw is produced. Agricultural Scenario in India  There is still enough scope and opportunity to use these feedstock (rice/wheat straw) for energy purpose as well. Not to forget there are many more crop residues that could be used apart from rice and wheat straw.  In case of combine harvesting almost all the residue generated is left in the field that finally ends up in burning. Currently the government is trying to bring in some strict legislation to stop burning.
