3 Menu Change: Device management moved to Device Groups Area All device management functions are under the Device Groups area under the School menu

4 Device Groups Two items that used to be under the Device Group menu, Devices and Access Rights, have become tabs in Device Group Details when you click on any device group (tech tub) from the list to edit. The Devices Tab is where you check the device charging details

5 Device Groups – Device Group Details Allow Screenshot Under Device Group Details, ensure that the “Allow screenshot” feature is turned on (checked off). You can also increase the number of apps per screen in this area.

6 Device Groups – Check app assigned to devices To check apps assigned to devices: In Device Groups, under the tab Android Groups Check off a Tech Tub Group New tabs will appear on the next screen, select the Assigned apps tab to see what apps have been assigned to that device

7 View and Control – Screen & App Lock Under View and Control you can: Lock screens – check off the screen then select screen lock to lock screens for quick student attention App Lock allows one app to only be available to students to keep students on task. Click Release to stop the App Lock mode Click on a screen to print what is being displayed with a time/date stamp

8 Apps – See Only Apps at Your School The apps list now only shows apps that you've selected to be managed at your school, not the whole school division.

9 Apps – To add an App Add an app to your Android School Apps list, so that it can be managed (assigned to Tech Tubs for installation, or assigned to a profile, use the Add App button at the top of the school apps list.

10 Apps – Steps to adding apps to Tech Tubs Steps to add apps to devices: Click Add app Check off the app to add, click Add at bottom Click on the app icon, then when the App details app, check off the Tech Tubs you wish to install the app, click Save

11 Apps – Check Devices with App Under the Apps view, click on the Devices tab to see all the devices with a particular app

12 Apps – Another Way to Check App Installation In the Apps screen you can also check which apps are assigned to each device in this area This allows one to quickly check if an app needs to be installed to a device Click on the pop-up box to check each Tech Tub assigned to your school

13 Apps – Fetching & Assigning Apps to Tech Tubs Once an app is installed on a device (via the Google Play Store), you can fetch that app to Tab Pilot, allowing you to install it on other devices. In the App view, choose Assign, check off the Tech Tubs to assign to. When you fetch the app it will message at the top of the screen, Fetching installer app for …., then it will assign it to the Tech Tubs. In order for a group of devices (Tech Tub) to install a pushed app, at least one of the devices must be on-line.

14 Profile - Creating a Profile You can Add or Clone Profiles from the profile area. Remember to clone the RCSD English or French Elementary System App Profile Schools should not add to this profile. If you wish to add school apps, it is recommended that you create a duplicate/clone of this profile or generate your own profile.

15 Profile - Managing Apps & Web Links ASSIGN APPS AND WEB LINKS ON TABLET SCREENS IN PROFILES Managing apps and web links for a profile is in the Profile area Check off the Profile you would like to manage (change/add apps) To see all school profiles, uncheck “My profiles only”

16 Profile – Apps and Links With the Tab Pilot updates, you can now arrange apps yourself (not default to alphabetical order) Click on a Profile to manage (Do not change the Default User) From the Launch & Lock Layout tab of the profile, just drag the icons on the screen to change the position. You can also drag apps to different screens in this area or even the Trash (to remove from the profile)

17 Profile – Adding Apps to Profiles In the Profile area, under Android School apps, Check off the box next to the app Click Add to Profile Ensure My profile only is not checked off Check off the profile to add the app Click Add to Profile at the bottom of the screen Note: when using this method to add an app to a profile, the app or link screen gets set for "auto"

18 Profile - Changing Profile Backgrounds To change the background of the profile, under the Launch & Lock appearance tab choose the background (solid, image…) and Save
